Nobody wants to sip on a hot latte in the summer sun, so it’s time to look to everybody’s favourite martini for coffee inspiration. Put your martini glasses in the fridge and grind your coffee beans, we’re going to take you through an espresso martini masterclass.
The original recipe is a thing of beauty, and it’s also the launching pad to a world of coffee and alcohol dancing together on your taste buds.
Ingredients:
30mL Absolut vodka
20mL cold espresso coffee
Coffee beans to garnish

This is the part that will make you question your bar tabs. Put all the ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake it all about, strain into a chilled martini glass and plonk a coffee bean on top.
It’s summer, so we’re officially in the season where ice cream is an appropriate garnish. This recipe adds a scoop of the creamy stuff to your espresso martini, turning the cocktail into a dessert (just don’t pour it into a waffle cone).
Ingredients:
30mL Absolut vodka
15mL cold espresso coffee
1 small scoop vanilla ice cream
Cocoa powder to dust
Coffee beans to garnish
Method:
Put the vodka, Kahlúa and espresso in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until it’s nice and cold. Put your scoop of ice cream in a large martini glass and strain the cocktail mix on top. Dust with the cocoa, sprinkle the beans on and serve!
Who doesn’t like chocolate? This recipe will have you going full Augustus Gloop over the sweet nectar that blends chocolate with the goodness of coffee (and booze).
Ingredients:
30mL Absolut vodka
20mL cold espresso coffee
15mL chocolate syrup (but tbh, we’ll leave this to your discretion)
Grated chocolate to dust
Chocolate coated coffee beans to garnish
Method:
Mix the vodka, liqueur, espresso and chocolate syrup in a cocktail shaker loaded with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass, dust with grated chocolate and bang a couple of chocolate coffee beans on top for good measure.

15mL salted caramel syrup
Smashed honeycomb to garnish
Method:
Mix the vodka, Kahlúa, espresso and salted caramel syrup in a cocktail shaker loaded with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and sprinkle with smashed honeycomb.

Cocoa powder to dust

Method:
Shake the vodka, Kahlúa and coffee in a cocktail shaker loaded with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Slowly pour the Baileys into the glass so it settles at the bottom, making a tiramisu layer appearance. Sprinkle with cocoa powder and garnish with coffee beans before serving.
